What is Lanoo?
Lanoo is a digital AI waiter for restaurants. Guests scan a QR code at their table, read the menu in their own language and ask about dishes, ingredients, allergens and recommendations, right in the browser. Lanoo only answers with information the restaurant has approved. Lanoo is built by a startup from Salzburg, Austria.
Do my guests need an app?
No. The QR code opens Lanoo right in the browser. No download, no sign-up.
What kind of venues is Lanoo for?
Restaurants, inns, cafés, bars, hotel restaurants and mountain huts: anywhere guests come from many countries or often ask about ingredients and allergens. Lanoo helps most in tourist regions and in venues with a small service team.
Don't my guests already have Google Translate or ChatGPT?
Those translate your menu, but they don't know your confirmed allergens or what's sold out today, and when in doubt they guess. Lanoo only answers with what you've approved and suggests your house recommendations and daily specials. Guests don't need to photograph anything – scanning the QR code is enough.
What happens when a guest asks about allergens?
Lanoo only mentions allergens you've explicitly confirmed. If something hasn't been confirmed, the waiter says so openly and refers the guest to your staff. It never guesses based on the name of a dish. For severe allergies, it also advises a quick check with staff about traces.
How is Lanoo different from a regular QR code menu?
A regular QR menu shows a PDF or a list. Lanoo translates your menu into the guest's language and answers questions like a waiter: What's vegetarian? What's nut-free? What does the house recommend? At the end, guests show your team their selection with the original names of your dishes.
Can the waiter take orders or handle payments?
No, and that's on purpose. It gives advice, and your guests show their picks to your team. Ordering and payment stay with you.
How long does setup take?
Usually about 15 minutes: upload your menu, review the dishes, print the QR code.
Which languages does Lanoo support?
Guests can use Lanoo in German, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Croatian, Greek and Czech. The phone's language is detected automatically.
How much does Lanoo cost?
You can try Lanoo Pro free for 30 days, no payment details needed. After that, Pro costs €39 per month, cancel any month, or €32 per month billed yearly, including 1,000 guest questions per month. The free plan keeps the translated menu and QR codes, just without the AI waiter. For multiple locations, Business is available on request.
What data does Lanoo store about my guests?
No names, no accounts. We only store the questions within a conversation, so the waiter understands the context and you can see how often it's used.
